Building for billions of people

Stop serving 1 or 2 customers per week, that won’t take you anywhere in life. Its a rat race. Unless these customers are throwing billions at your product, that’s exactly the business you don’t want to do.

Build something that billions of people need and make it accessible to them, or simply re-approach your current business in such a way that billions of people can access your service.

Most of the other laws of success won’t matter after a billion people start using your product because they will naturally apply themselves.

In the early 90s, at the time Mac and Windows were largely the only available operating systems, billions of people couldn’t access them because they weren’t free. A 19-year-old 100 level student dropped out of school and built a completely free operating system. The operating system was not only free to use but also free to copy, rebrand and resell. Because of this, billions of people around the world were able to access operating systems or at least benefit from them.

The name of that young man is Linus Tovalds and he named the operating system after himself, Linux operating system. By 2018, all the 500 supercomputers on earth were running on Linux operating system. Only 2 out of the top 25 websites in the world aren’t using Linux.

96.3% of the world’s top 1 million servers run on Linux. 90% of all cloud infrastructure operates on Linux and practically all the best cloud hosts use it.

The net worth of Linus Tovalds today is $150m, that’s about 54 billion naira.

All he did was take something expensive, make it free and accessible to billions of people. That’s a rhema right there, take something expensive, make it free and accessible to billions of people and watch the magic happen.

Look at your current product or service:

What can you do to get your product to 10,000 more people tomorrow?

if you had 10,000 more orders tomorrow, can you fulfill it? If you can’t, there is a big problem with the way you are running your setup.

Get off the mindset of serving one or two customers and start thinking in billions. Make the big move, the little move is just a rat race.
