Can we prevent scientists from creating living things?

Following the scientific definition of life, it’s hard to argue that viruses aren’t alive. It’s even harder to argue that humans are not about to create a living thing via artificial intelligence. Given that living things evolve to survive, it is Elon Musks fear that one of the Machines we create may want to exterminate humanity to avoid getting shut down by the humans that created it.

I do not know what to make of it, but the future seems inevitable until it happens. This arrival of this strange future seems to be kept on track with humanity’s crazy continuous advancement in technology accelerated by the war in 1914 and 1945.

A peep through history shows that some human populations are able to pause their own advancement in technology for thousands of year comfortably. Though this seems like a good solution to prevent the AI that will take over the world, it is also worthy of note that all such human populations had to bow to advanced technology whenever it caught up to day. Hence, we can conclude that the future of man made ‘living’ things that fit the scientific description of living things can only be delayed but not denied.
