I was once a cobbler, this freak accident that stopped me
One day, one of the long needles used for stitching shoes stabbed my lap and got stuck deep in there because of the hook at the tip of it. It was so deep that only the handle of the needle could be seen, every other thing went into my body.
After hours of struggle, professionals were able to remove it from my body and gave me the necessary injections.
The moment they were successful, I was like
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone, I am so done with this career. Got to find another way to make money. My fellow cobbler and well-wishers, it was really nice needling you. Stitching up those weary footwear was really fun, the next time you are going to see me here is, never again!”.
My next career was becoming a barber, then a bookseller, a poultry farmer, and finally a programmer, but that’s a story for another day. Programming was what opened all sorts of doors for me including airplane doors.

I remembered this incident today because I just spoke on the phone with one of my fellow cobbler back then, guess what, after so many years, he is still a cobbler! He called to ask me for financial help.
Moral lesson:
- Know when to quit, and when you do, do not look back. Some things in your life are there just to serve as a stepping stone for better things to come.
