In Africa, most of the societal pressure experienced by budding achievers comes from total failures.
Here are some examples:
1. “Oh gosh, you bought a land and now building a house in Ibeju-lekki? I can’t do such, it’s too far. Why not build your house in Lekki phase 1?”
And this is coming from a broke ass lady living as an appendage in her uncle’s house with his family.

2. “ah, the sun is too hot. You don’t have an AC in this your car? I can’t drive any car that doesn’t have an AC. Here is what you should do, sell this your car and buy a brand new one that has functioning AC. So that at least, it won’t be too hot for me whenever you are helping drop me off from work on your way home.”

This is coming from a jobless and car-less brother coming from a broke ass family where no one has ever driven a car in human history.

3. “Your kitchen is too small, I can’t even live in a house with such a small kitchen. I love wide kitchens. Why not rent a new bigger house with a stadium sized kitchen?”
Coming from a broke-ass lady serving as a house help in her friend’s single-room apartment in exchange for accommodation.

4. “Sister, your husband is too short, I can never marry a short man in my life. Ah, he doesn’t even have 6-packs like C. Ronaldo, I hate potbelly! Gosh, the whole wedding ceremony irritates me. The man doesn’t even have a car of his own, can you imagine, you guys had to rent a car”

Coming from a broke, old, rejected, single lady who doesn’t even know if she will ever marry again in this life.

5. “you are relocating to Ireland? I hate Ireland, I guess it must be too cold there. Why not just move to Canada? The name Ireland doesn’t sound big, I can’t even tell people I have a friend in Ireland.
See what you will do, sell your properties, raise money and apply for a Canadian Visa and just move there”

Coming from a country-trapped dude that doesn’t even know what IELTS means.

If you are not careful, you will make wrong choices in life because of comments from people that can’t even make any choice at all.
