Translation: Don’t erroneously appear like you don’t need help to someone that is in a position to help you. Connection begets connection.

This one took me a little time to learn.

When certain kinds of people ask about your occupation, if you are jobless, humble yourself, then let them know what your skills are.
If you are employed but looking for new opportunities, explain what your employment is and what kind of new opportunities you are expecting.
If you are running a business, explain in clear terms what your business is and let the person know what kinds of business deals you are looking forward to.

It’s actually best to rehearse this, so that whenever the question comes you can easily drop your pitch.

Not, ‘I am the brand ambassador and general overseer of CEO at Self-employed Inc limited LLC and we do nationwide deliveries to all our future branches’.

Or
“Why are you asking? Must you know? Do you have a job for me?! “ etc
